The Men's T20 Cricket World Cup 2022 looks to be a huge event for cricket fans all around the world. A total of 16 teams will slog it out this year for their place in the finals. Australia, as host nation and defenders of the 2021 World Cup title vs New Zealand, are the current favourites.

The Australian men's team will want to show their colours early on. Not only are they up against some incredible and varied competition, they'll want to match the success of the Australian Women's World Cup team.

The Australian Women's T20 Cricket World Cup team won the title in March this year with a finals win against India. Played at the MCG with a record-breaking crowd of over 86,000 people, it was the largest ever in Australia, and the 2nd largest globally.

The first match of the Men's Cricket World Cup 2022 competition begins on Sunday 16th October between Sri Lanka and Namibia. Semi-finals are scheduled for the 9th and 10th November, with the competition finishing with the Grand Final on 13th November.

    The Cricket Teams

Placements for the 16 teams of the 2022 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup are drawn in a number of ways.

As host country, Australia received automatic placement in the competition. With their win of last year's world cup tournament, however, their position was never in doubt.

The next 11 positions are filled by the top teams from the 2021 T20 World Cup. This was originally meant to be played in 2020, but was postponed.

The remaining 4 teams were the leaders from the 16 team qualifier competition played earlier in 2022. The competition was divided into 2 x 8 team groups, with the top two teams from each group proceeding to the World Cup.

    The official lineup of teams for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup are;

    • Australia
    • Afghanistan
    • Bangladesh
    • England
    • India
    • Namibia
    • New Zealand
    • Pakistan
    • Scotland
    • South Africa
    • Sri Lanka
    • West Indies
    • Ireland
    • United Arab Emirates
    • Netherlands
    • Zimbabwe

An incredible range of teams will be playing this year. The last four on the list are the finalists from the qualifier competition.

    Venues

Matches are played at venues across the country, providing great opportunity for many Australians to experience live matches if desired.

    The list of venues is;

    • The Gabba, Brisbane.
    • Kardinia Park, Geelong.
    • Bellerive Oval, Hobart.
    • Perth Stadium, Perth.
    • Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney. Location of the first semi-final.
    • Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. Second-semi-final.
    • Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne. With its huge capacity and history, the perfect location for the Grand Final.

Where to watch the Men's T20 World Cup?

Unfortunately, there will be no free-to-air broadcast of the cricket world cup this year, even for the Australian team matches. Live streaming and replay coverage of all matches is available through both Kayo and Foxtel.

To view the cricket world cup matches on Foxtel, you'll need a basic subscription plus the sports addon. This will set you back $54 per month. The good thing is that you'll be able to watch the action on up to 5 screens at a time.

Kayo, a newer dedicated sports streaming service in Australia will also be showing all matches live and with replays. Kayo often has additional commentary and statistics available for viewing. A subscription to Kayo will cost $25 per month for viewing on a single screen at a time. This increases to $35 per month for three screens.

You can access streaming services on your 南宫ng·28 TV through the Google TV interface, the Entertainment Hub, or the Google Play store.

Of course, you can take the opportunity to watch a match live at the ground. View the full list of matches and purchase tickets through the T20 World Cup website. Get in quick as some matches are sold out or have standing room only tickets remaining.

    Enjoy cricket season

Of course, the Men's T20 World Cup is only part (though an exciting part) of a fantastic season of cricket. With both the men's and women's teams touring globally, and the Ashes Series in December/January, there is plenty to watch.

And whilst the World Cup is not being broadcast free-to-air, many other matches will be via broadcast partners, Channel 7. Of course, you can also get your fill through Fox Sports or Kayo subscriptions.

After the relatively quiet seasons of the previous two years, take some time out to enjoy this cricket season's excitement.
